Amelan Depigmenting Treatment

Amelan Lightening Treatment is a proprietary skin lightening treatment that is widely available in cosmetic clinics around the world. How does it work and what are the alternatives and indeed how does it rank compared to these alternatives? Are there any other considerations I should have when using this treatment? Let’s find out.

What is Amelan treatment and how does it work?

Amelan is a treatment offered in skin clinics that lightens the skin. It is especially used for people who have skin lesions and patches and related conditions. For example, those who suffer from melasma or chloasma experience the development of dark spots (often on the face) due to hormonal changes, sun exposure, or a combination of both. Amelan treatment can help reduce or eliminate the appearance of these dark spots. It is also effective against acne scars.

The Amelan depigmenting treatment works like a facial peel that is applied to the face and left on for about eight hours. Then it is washed and a cream is applied twice a day for about three weeks. Peeling of the skin similar to that experienced after a sunburn is normal during this time, but the skin below will appear much lighter.

Amelan Results

As with all skin treatments, there are no guarantees. However, you can expect at least an 80 to 90 percent reduction in darkness in the areas where the mascara is applied. In practice, what remains is barely visible because it blends into the surrounding skin. You can view before and after photos to get an idea of how good a result can be with this treatment.

Considerations

Although makeup can be worn the next day, your skin will feel raw and rosy in appearance for about a week after treatment. While some people return to their daily lives and work immediately, many choose to have “down time” and relax during this period. However, be careful in the sun, as it can diminish the result, especially in the first days after treatment.

The Amelan treatment will set you back around $1,500 but, as with any cosmetic treatment, you should shop around for the best deal as the treatment is pretty much the same wherever you go.

Alternatives

For several hundred dollars less, you can order an Amelan treatment kit for home use. Home cosmetic treatments are usually less efficient than those carried out in clinics. However, in Amelan’s case, I have no idea if this is the case or not. There is very little information on this and the home kit is quite hard to come by. For something as important as a strong facial peel, my advice is to choose a clinic to get a good result from the professionals. Don’t take shortcuts. Home kits, in my opinion, are only suitable for mild, lower intensity skin whitening methods.

Cosmelan is an alternative treatment but some people report a rebound effect. If you have a choice, I would go for Amelan, but if Cosmelan is the only treatment available to you, you should get a pretty similar result in most cases.
