Socializing For Businesses on Social Media

To get targeted traffic you need to be where the people are and socializing for business on social media is HUGE. How big is the social network? According to Alexa rankings, YouTube #3, Facebook #4, My Space #9, hi5 #21, Twitter #55 (and steadily increasing).

Social media is a great place to chat and just be yourself. But social media is also a great place to find new business opportunities, joint ventures, and even new clients. The trick is to refrain from self-promotion. For some network marketers, this is a difficult task. You need to temporarily put your business and opportunity on the back burner and just be yourself. Go with the flow of the conversation and be an engaging participant. Once you hone your business socializing skills, you will find yourself a sought after social media user and business opportunities will come to you and not the other way around. Isn’t that better than business prospecting?

The beauty of social media is that what you’re saying can be seen by everyone. People by nature are a bit nosy. So when they read your conversation and find it interesting, they become curious. The more interesting you are, the more curious they become and eventually check out your profile. Of course, this is where you have links to your opportunity, but that is of minor importance. If you’ve filled out your profile completely, interests and all, you might find a common interest and start a new conversation. Do you see what is happening here? You are building a relationship and trust. People like to do business with those they trust. Eventually, they may ask about your opportunity and how it’s working for you. Maybe they are interested in a work from home job or maybe a product you sell. The point is that socializing for business can generate sales without even actively promoting your opportunity.

The lesson here… Stand where the crowd is. Start using social media – be yourself and keep it real.
