Why are travel shoe bags essential for packing?

In a survey on the use of separate shoe bags, 8 out of 10 people said they didn’t even care about separate shoe bags.

Like any average citizen, you walk on different floors, whether they are solid as a rock or wet and muddy roads. It may not affect if you are in your city, but what if you are traveling?

Packing your dirty shoes with other things that touch your face (like masks) is not a good idea at all.

Therefore, it is extremely necessary to have a separate bag or box to pack your shoes.

According to Dr. William Schaffner, professor of preventive medicine at Vanderbilt University and an infectious disease expert, the risk is zero. The fact that you put your shoes in shoe covers when you travel has more to do with how demanding you are with your clothes and your things.

However, if you do not carry an extra bag and put everything in one case, you can be subject to a strong infection, even on your face.

Therefore, it is highly recommended to have extra bags for your shoes.

What are the types of options you may have?

  • Cotton bags with drawstring:

In the long run, a serious pack of these little drawstring sacks is now part of my packing essentials.

Some companies use them in place of paper or plastic packaging. These are my favorite shoe bags as they keep the dirt and grime from my shoes out of everything else in my bag.

However, they are excessively light and do not take up additional space.

  • Cube-Duo packaging:

An alternative to these cotton bags, more structured as well as waterproof?

The ‘Shoe-cube Duo’ can be a great alternative. This pair of shoe boxes, recycled from plastic water bottles, will keep dirt off the rest of your clothes. Plus, these boxes also come with clear lids so you no longer have to open every bag or box to find your shoes.

  • Hiking shoes packing cubes:

An option for your muddy, structured and waterproof hiking shoes too?

Eagle Creek Shoe Buckets are specially designed to address these issues. These cubes can be used to carry shoes up to a size 13 for US men.

These ripstop nylon fabric cubes are super lightweight, but come with a waterproof coating that will never let you worry about your clothes getting dirty or wet.

  • Weekend bags with compartments for shoes:

Don’t want to use cotton buckets or sacks to carry your shoes?

A weekend bag may be the best alternative. These bags not only provide different compartments for your shoes, but they also come with waterproof liners, which will prevent your other essentials and clothing from getting dirty or wet.
