– Venetian plaster is an excellent alternative to real plaster walls.
– Instead of buying new cabinets, stain them. Dark spots can leave more room for error than light spots.
– Change the hardware. Sometimes a simple hardware upgrade can breathe new life into cabinets.
– Create your own custom painting. Play and mix colors. Use a sponge or rag to apply the paint for a custom look.
– Go to the flea market, salvage store, etc., to buy furniture. In many themes, furniture is supposed to look aged or worn.
– Use sideboards and other antique furniture as an alternative to additional cabinets.
– Incorporate natural elements in the design, which can replace expensive works of art. For example, frame an olive branch. Find a unique wine bottle or oblong bottle and fill it with: colorful olives, citrus fruits, or bell peppers. Then fill it to the top with olive oil.
– Ask at the flooring store if they have remnants of floors and countertops. This will be cheaper than a custom cut.
– Do the installation or preparation work yourself.
– Look at braces with teeth. Often a stove may have a small scratch or dent that can be easily repaired or hidden in the design.
