DDR Metal Pads – The advantages of using Metal Dance Dance Revolution Dance Pads

If you’ve played Dance Dance Revolution at home using the standard foam pads, then you know how frustrating it can be trying to get them to work normally. There are many reasons why metal DDR pads are far superior to the foam pads that come standard on some gaming packages.

  1. functionality – Metal DDR dance mats are much more reliable than foam ones. Metal mats provide a sturdy surface (often 10mm thick) and button sensors so you don’t lose points for not registering your step. This problem is very common with foam mats.
  2. sustainability – Without a doubt, DDR foam dance mats will wear out much faster than metal mats. Foam pads have a history of sagging and bending at the corners, making it difficult to play. While metal pads are more expensive, you’ll spend more in the long run on foam pads by replacing them every few months.
  3. Safety – Using a DDR metal dance mat is also much safer than foam mats. Foam tends to slip and slide on hardwood floors, and it also tends to deteriorate very quickly in terms of structural stability. Most metal mats, on the other hand, are much stronger, with reinforced metal bases that are much more difficult to slide on hardwood floors.

Of course, you can still use the foam pads on the carpet areas without much of a problem, and if you don’t play very often, that might be the most cost-effective route to go. Either way, playing DDR using the mats at home is a wonderful way to spend time with family and friends, and hone some dance skills very quickly.
