How to pass a CBT and what to expect.

CBT or required basic training is not what it used to be, your CBT may fail.

That said, it’s not that hard to pass, especially if you know the rules of the road.

So what is involved?

1. Eye test
You will need to be able to read a license plate on a wall.

2. Sit through the safety talk
The safety talk usually includes advice on clothing and a helmet, road safety in general and a few other things. The talk lasts between 1 and 2 hours.

3. Basic maneuvers
You will be shown basic scooter skills and will be required to complete various maneuvers. This is usually done on private land and not on the road.

4. The road test.
You will have to ride the roads showing an instructor that you are a safe driver.
The trip takes about 2 hours and is generally very easy, as long as you know the rules of the road.

5.Certificate
If you completed all sections successfully you should get your certificate at the end of the day, you won’t have to do your CBT again for 2 full years.

6. If you don’t approve
You will be prompted to go back and repeat the areas you failed in, most likely the road ride.

If you really struggle on the roads, why not take some car driving lessons, maybe even take the car theory test? These things help you build confidence and knowledge.

Here comes the fun part, getting a new scooter!

Scooters these days are dirt cheap, you can *buy scooters online* for under £600, brand new.

Used scooters range in price depending on many factors, including age, make, and condition.

New scooters can be very cheap online, you can also buy branded scooters from dealers.

Cheap Chinese scooters have a bit of a reputation, to say the least, early scooters weren’t very good in terms of build quality. They used cheap materials, especially the wiring.

Things have changed and now Chinese scooters are so much better, I personally had a high end Chinese motorcycle and despite hearing some horror stories about Chinese bikes I can honestly say I never had a major problem with my bike. In fact, it was probably one of the best motorcycles I’ve ever ridden, and I’ve ridden quite a few.

When I bought my Chinese bike, it was 3 years old, had covered about 7500 kilometers and cost me about £700. The bike looked fantastic and I can honestly say that I lost count of the number of people who asked me about the bike. I would stop at stores and people would ask me about it, I would lock it outside my house and people would ask me about it, I even heard people talk about it when I was in my house with the window open. , “wow, that’s a nice bike, I want one like that.”

The bike never broke down once, I never had to take it to a shop for repairs and I never regretted buying it, I loved it and miss it so much!

My point is that just because Chinese scooters have a bad rap doesn’t make them bad. Chinese scooters are relatively new, so there are bound to be teething issues that will eventually be resolved. Over the years, many of these teething problems have been resolved, making Chinese scooters the market leader in terms of quality for price.

For those of you old enough to remember, people used to say that Kawasaki and Yamaha were cheap imports when they first came out, as the years have passed these brands are now the best in terms of price and quality.

In the next few years, Chinese bikes and scooters will probably get the recognition they deserve for being great bikes at a low price.

Brand name scooters cost a lot more than most Chinese scooters, so what do you get for your extra money?

1. Brand recognition. If you’re a bit of a show-off, like me, a good brand name on anything from shoes to vetches can be a nice ego boost.
2.Quality. The initial problems of the established brands are a thing of the past, Aprillia, Suzuki, etc. They are experts in the area of ​​scooter design and engineering, have been building bikes for decades, and know exactly what they are doing.
3. Resale value. Chinese scooters do not hold their value as well as name brand ones. If you’re buying a new one with the intention of reselling it, you’ll get better performance from a well-known brand scooter.
4. Repair. If your branded scooter breaks down, spare parts will be much easier to come by than parts for Chinese scooters, and therefore much cheaper to repair.
5. Security. I’ve heard stories about Chinese scooters breaking down at traffic lights, falling apart at junctions, etc. You rarely hear the same stories about branded scooters.

So which one do I buy?

A new Chinese scooter should cost between £549 and £899 depending on style and engine size.

A new scooter from a well known company can cost you several thousand pounds.

It’s not an easy decision, but if you just want something to get you from A to B and back, then a Chinese scooter may be the way to go. As the years have passed, these scooters have become very reliable, so as long as you’re willing to accept the risk of getting a bad one, you’d probably be much better off buying a Chinese scooter.

Safety is paramount on the roads, assuming you are the safest scooter rider on the planet won’t stop an inconsiderate or dangerous driver from crashing into you at 90mph.

There are 3 main things you can do to stay safe on the roads, they are as follows;

1. Visibility. High-resolution reflective jackets aren’t a fashion accessory, but they do help you be seen on the road. Don’t underestimate the safety value of one of these jackets or vests.

2.Sound. Scooters tend to be quiet, making them louder could save your life. If the driver of a car can hear you, he will be aware of you. If he can’t hear you, he won’t look for you. It’s as simple as that.

If you are looking up at the sky, you can see an airplane. If you hear a plane, you will automatically look up to the sky. The same principle applies to motorcycles and scooters on the road.

3. Safety equipment.
Yeah, I know it’s fun riding a motorcycle in shorts and a T-shirt on a sunny day with the engine blaring and everyone looking at you, but let’s face it. it is hardly safe.
Protective coats with spinal plates can help ensure the use of your legs after an accident, a good helmet can help ensure you live after an accident.

Including the above, there is one more way to stay safe on the roads. It is simply this: travel safely. Yes, I know it’s fun to do 70 mph, do wheelies and pass porches, but it’s not safe. If you fall, you could die.

I personally don’t ride a motorcycle at the moment, I have my car license and I prefer to drive because it is safer.

If I crash my car at 30 mph, I could easily escape unscathed.

If I crash my motorcycle at 30 mph, I could easily die.

That’s not to say I don’t miss my bike and the feeling of freedom it used to give me, I just value my safety more.
